The Hot List

We’re turning up the heat on summertime at The Seabird. Introducing The Hot List— your insider itinerary for an uninterrupted Oceanside escape. From our front-row ocean access to our neighborhood location brimming with authentic beach-town soul, we’re illuminating how to drink, dine and spa like an insider. Feel the heat.

Raising the Brunch Bar at Piper

Homemade hot sauce. Award-winning Bloody Mary Flights. And the best perk of all: People watching at Piper Restaurant. Nab your seat at this spicy little corner spot on the intersection of Mission and Pacific, where the patio was designed for kicking back with Mimosa Flights (watermelon basil, blueberry lavender), and watching the world go by. Here at The Seabird Hotel, the traditional brunch buffet has artisanally evolved with a Fried Chicken & Waffle Bar and the Toast Bar. There’s locally famous Prager Brothers bread alongside a smattering of toppings: avo, pickled fresno chiles, housemade cherry tomato confit and basil pesto. Secure your Mimosa brunch seat here

Spa Buzz: Pedicures with a Twist

Combine your pedicure with cocktail hour. This summer, it’s always 5 o’clock at Sunny’s Salon & Spa with a new “Spacktail” menu featuring drinks paired to your pampering. Take the Mani & Mojito (105 minutes, $125), a minty lime manicure served with a frothy Cuban cocktail. The Bubbles & Bliss Pedicure (60 minutes, $75) is effervescent with Pink Champagne (apparently it’s antioxidant-rich!). Meanwhile, craft beer connoisseurs get bragging rights with The Coastal Pale Nail Pedicure (60 minutes, $75), featuring a beer-infused foot soak and a cool pint of local brew. On tap: The Après Surf Coastal Ale, a collaboration between Oceanside’s Bagby Beer and Mission Pacific Hotel. Nail it down here

The NightCap

What goes around comes around. And 1990s nostalgia most certainly includes the Espresso Martini. The modern classic has come full circle and is back in the hands of The Shore Room, The Seabird’s ocean-view bar. The breezy beach-house inspired lounge feels more like a tropical living room than a lobby—a sumptuous place to sip and linger. The cocktail was invented by a London bartender at the request of an 80s supermodel seeking to extend her late-night glow. So, raise your martini glasses and clink to that.

Cruise Control: Your Most Seamless Family Vacation Yet

The kids are alright. In fact, The Seabird is incredibly easy to navigate and refreshingly child-friendly to make use of the resort’s second greatest asset: the ocean. The first? Little Seabirds, our private kids club featuring movie nights, games and weekend activities supervised by our experienced staff. In California, private beaches are not allowed, but our very own Beach Rambler makes it VIP—setting up towels and umbrellas while a sundries shop is right on the sand. The lifeguard tower, meanwhile, ensures safety first! And talk about seamless: Our concierge dials in surf lessons for almost every age. Kids can dive into other Oceanside water sports like kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding (SUP), and boogie boarding. Also a cinch: bike rentals as you cruise your way into vacation mode.  Ready to roll? Reserve here.

We’re Crafty

Some days are ideal for beer crawls. Others, art crawls. Thanks to our location as a craft beer epicenter and official designation as a California Cultural District, we proudly offer both. Oceanside, San Diego County is one of 14 districts hand-picked by the state for its thriving cultural diversity and unique artistic identity. Exhibit A: OMA West, The Seabird’s satellite partnership with Oceanside Museum of Art. The historic mid-century beacon by architect Irving Gill is just a 10-minute walk from here. The art on display throughout the hotel—explored through QR codes—inexorably links guests to the larger creative community. Further igniting the scene: the nearby California Surf Museum—see Bethany Hamilton’s shark-bitten board—and Hill Street Country Club, a hub for on-the-verge art talent (collector alert!) with immersive events.

Cool Hunting: Vintage Shopping in Oceanside

When certain LA celebrity interior designers seek treasure in San Diego, there’s one region they prefer above all. Oceanside. With its throwback spirit and density of vintage stores, the magnetism is real. Standouts like Badlands make it a destination in and of itself with rare designer furniture shipped internationally. Throughout Oceanside, uncover can’t-miss shops like Sea Hive Marketplace with a diverse vendor mix; the deliciously random Estate Sale Warehouse (look for the fake cow out front!); and next door, there’s the darling jewel box, TLC Estate Jewelry. The decidedly western Ransack (@shopransack) stocks a refined selection of cowboy hats and prairie dresses while Captain’s Helm is a goodie bag of buy/sell/trade. The real reward: Returning to The Seabird for much-needed beachside relaxation, and cocktails at The Shore Room.
